Alison McIlkenny

Alison McIlkenny is a Northern Irish artist who works mainly in oils and charcoal to create bright, expressive paintings that capture the essence of her subjects. Alison spent 10 years working as a Jewellery Designer and maker after receiving an advanced Diploma in metal clay through the Mid-Cornwall School of Jewellery. She is one of the first people in Northern Ireland to make, design and teach in metal clay fine silver jewellery. Recently Alison has returned to her first love, painting and drawing. A happy wife, mother of two children, the owner of a fur baby dog called Archie, a budgie called Olive, and a parrot called Kahlo (after the famous Frida Kahlo), Alison is mainly self-taught and believes that if you are passionate enough about something, you will work hard and immerse yourself in it until you can be the best you can be. Art has truly become Alison’s obsession, passion and love.
