Anthony Barber

Anthony studied Architecture and Design to Post Graduate level in Yorkshire, and during this time, he sketched and painted both in Yorkshire and on Scotland's West Coast and Islands. He started painting full-time after moving to the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides in 1994. Anthony's studio is situated just above the harbour and beach in Port of Ness on the Northernmost tip of the Island. His work is based primarily on the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, particularly the West Coast and Hebrides, where the ever-changing moods and plays of light on the sea and sky inspire his bold, colourful acrylic paintings. His work is exhibited in galleries throughout the UK and has been selected for the RSW and RSA exhibitions at the National Gallery for Scotland, Edinburgh and the RSMA and Discerning Eye exhibitions at the Mall Galleries, London.
